If you don't fancy forking out a small fortune for some posh chocolates then why not make your own?
Plain chocolate (minimum 70% cocoa)
Edible Gold Leaf (I got a pot from Waitrose)
1. Pop a baking tray in the fridge to cool
2. Melt the plain chocolate on a low heat in a microwave or in a glass bowl over simmering water in a saucepan.
3. Once fully melted take the baking tray out of the friedge and line with baking parchment.
4. Use a tea spoon and create chocolate disks (about the size of a 50p) onto the baking parchment.
5. Fill the parchment paper up ensuring that none of the disks touch one another. Leave a teaspoon of melted chocolate in the bowl for later.
6. Pop the baking tray with the chocolate back into the fridge to harden.
7. Once hard (time taken with depend on how thick the discs are) remelt the remaining chocolate and use that as your glue to stick the edible gold leaf to the cooled chocolate disk.
8. Return to the fridge to fully set.
These disk are very versatile. You could make a little box or use a cellaphane bag to present them. Maybe pop a few on a saucer with a cup of coffee. I like to use these disks to decorate cakes esoecially a bought slice of cheesecake - very glam!
