I am currently looking into escaping to Mexico for a week or so. The following are the 3 top resorts:
Cancun
Cancun thoroughly deserves its number one spot. In March and April this tropical paradise is transformed by an influx of American college students determined to make the most of their vacation. Fun fun fun in the sun sun sun is the order of the day, and you can take your pick from a vast range of white sandy beaches, swim-up bars and poolside restaurants by day, and clubs and beach parties by night.
But it’s not all hardcore partying (although there’s plenty of that if you want it!) because Cancun is bursting with tropical life and ancient history. Did you know that Cancun has the second largest coral reef in the world after the Great Barrier Reef in Australia? Scuba diving here is something which is something that I am very tempted to do - I kinda like the idea of having a few lessons.
Acapulco
Nestled between the mountains of Sierra Madre del Sur and the glittering seas of the North Pacific Ocean Acapulco's scenery is stunning. The shops, restaurants, beaches and nightclubs come together to form the ultimate vacation spot focused on fun and relaxation. At night time this city is known to really come to life. While the ticket prices to some clubs may seem expensive (£15 – £30), this price usually includes all your drinks for the evening too. Great if you’re on a budget! In Acapulco enjoy the world class music, light shows and dance until the sun comes up.
Puerto Vallarta
Perhaps a lesser known jewel in Mexico’s crown, Puerto Vallarta is nonetheless a spectacular destination which a number of friends have recommended. It's known affectionately as the ‘friendliest city in the world’and is also one of the safest cities in Mexico. In the day time, you can safely work on your tan on one of Puerto Vallarta’s many sunny beaches and keep cool with a dip in the amazing clear blue waters. By night, you only have a short distance to travel to the exotic night clubs as most are close by to the hotels. I've heard that there is a relaxed vibe in Puerto Vallarta with many holiday makers wearing shorts and flip flops at the open air bars, partying the night away.
Mexico is known for its fabulous sunshine but don't let sunburn ruin your holiday.
I'll let you know what I book and how it was!
