Canberra is the perfect destination for an escape this October, as you can take part in the famous flower festival, Floriade. This year’s theme is ‘imagination’, with the tag ‘where will yours take you?’ With over one million blooms and entertainment galore, we think this festival is more of a beautiful reality than a simple daydream.
What to see?
For those who don’t think they are the flower festival type, fear not. Floriade is more than just flowers; it is about having a blooming good time! You will find plenty of opportunities to spend your Aussie dollars, but you will also be able to take part in free activities too. The 35 metre Ferris wheel is sure to catch your eye, but don’t miss out on the live music, performances and fashion shows.
What to do?
Get stuck into quirky activities such as gnome painting and cake baking, or head to the petting paddock to get up close with a family of barn yard animals. You can always choose to take it easy and simply gaze at beautiful showcase gardens and fabulous flowers instead. Whatever you end up doing, remember to enjoy the Australian sunshine as well as everything else that Canberra has to offer.
Canberra's Flower Festival is far from the Hampton Court Flower Festival See dazzling entertainment including headline music acts, be enthralled by street performers, comedy acts, community performances and dance. See theatre costumes and fashion from ‘Concept to Catwalk’ matched with flowers and learn from demonstrations by leading floral artists in the Interflora Exhibition Marquee. There is also a giant 35 metre ferris wheel for those who enjoy being above it all.
