5 Reasons to use the Eurostar

For those of us who are not too keen on flying (and I can think a number of friends who fall into this category) then the Eurostar is one option of travelling to Europe but it is also great for those who want to see the scenery along the way.

1. Comfort
Reason number one for why you should consider using the Eurostar is comfort. The initial period of waiting in the lounge is significantly better than many standard class airport lounges. With padded leather seats, ample floor space, good heating, interesting shops and even free WiFi on offer, you'll probably have never been in a similar train station or airport. Take advantage of the free WiFi and check in on foursquare[1] or Facebook Places and make others stuck at their work desks jealous.
2. Price
Generally, the price of the Eurostar is competitive with other forms of travel to Europe (car or plane). Being able to rest in the knowledge that once you're on the train you'll be able arriving in the centre of Paris after approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes is a bonus. You don’t need to queue for your baggage or spend an hour or two hunting down your hotel from the airport; you are also likely to save money on taxis and other such services with less distance to cover. C’est facile, non?!
3. Efficiency
When travelling by Eurostar, I simply didn’t get the same stressful feeling as by car or plane. The check-in process is very quick and the queues are minimal when compared to the major airlines. While rail travel is not free from delays, it's certainly not as affected by the weather as air travel. It's also much easier spending your time off from work sitting on a train than trying to amuse yourself for hours waiting for a flight.

4. Speed
As mentioned earlier, to get from London to Paris takes around 2 hours and 15 minutes via the Eurostar. While this may sound pretty average compared to the 1 hour flight time, it's actually a better option if you're going to be staying in a hotel located in the heart of Paris. Your luggage is already onboard with you so there's no waiting around for luggage that may or may not arrive!
5. Convenience
If you've never travelled to mainland Europe via the Eurostar before, then it's highly recommended that you give it a go at least once. Destinations include Brussels, Bruges, Disneyland Paris, Lille and Paris. Who knows, you may become a Eurostar junkie!
